If you were arrested in Orlando or anywhere in Orange County, your case will move through the Orange County courts of Florida's Ninth Judicial Circuit. Brian F. What to do after an arrest in Orange County
Florida requires that anyone who is arrested be brought before a judge within 24 hours for a first appearance, where the court reviews the charges and sets bond and release conditions. What happens in those first hours can shape the whole case.
- Do not discuss the case with police, other inmates, or on jail phone calls, which are recorded.
- Write down what happened while it is fresh: times, places and who was there.
- Keep every paper you were given, including the citation, bond receipt and court date.
- Talk to a defense attorney before your first court date.
